How to dispose

There are two ways to dispose of COVID-19 test kits depending on the part of the test kit.

Medical parts in the kit

  • Put into your black cart

Put COVID-19 antigen rapid test devices into your black cart as garbage. ​​​​​​

This includes:

  • Buffer bottle
  • Extraction tube
  • Swabs
  • Swab packaging
  • The test device
  • Any small plastic components

Paper, cardboard and plastic wrapping in the kit

  • Put into your blue cart or take to a community recycling depot

Put paper instructions and cardboard boxes: 

  • Into your blue cart for recycling
  • Take to a community recycling depot

NOTE: Bundle small protection bags with your other stretchy plastic bags for recycling.
