Our purpose

Making life better every day.

Accountability framework

Building strong relationships

The Accountability Framework outlines the relationship between Council, Administration and Calgarians.

Accountability framework

Calgarians, Council and Administation

Vision: What Calgarians aspire to be and Council’s leadership role in defining The City’s contribution to this vision.

Value: How Administration will ensure Calgarians receive value through the services delivered over the next four years.

Strategy: What Council asks Administration to deliver over the next four years, and how Administration will respond.

Council's Strategic Priorities

Council’s Strategic Priorities are organized into six key focus areas that reflect the broad themes Council intends to make meaningful progress during the 2027-2030 term. These areas will help clarify expected outcomes and will guide how City departments align their work.

Delivering for Calgarians

Our corporate strategic plan, Delivering for Calgarians 2027-2032, is:

  • a framework that helps administration support and deliver on Council’s direction through coordinated action across departments,
  • a connection to service planning and budgets,
  • a clear shared focus, and
  • has measurable progress over time.

City budget

City Council establishes strategies that identify what Administration will focus on for the next four years to meet the citizens’ vision.

These strategies help Administration decide which City services they should invest more or less in.

Every four years, The City creates a budget to deliver on what’s important to Calgarians.
