There are two ways to dispose of incandescent light bulbs depending on whether they usable or unusable.
Usable incandescent light bulbs

Extend the life of this item by reusing, selling, or donating
Reuse working incandescent light bulbs (traditional household bulbs) or halogen light bulbs by:
- Giving to family and friends
- Posting on online websites like Facebook Marketplace
Donate usable incandescent light bulbs to local charities. Contact your preferred charity to confirm what type of donations they are accepting.
Unusable incandescent light bulbs

Put into your black cart
Put old and broken incandescent light bulbs or halogen light bulbs into your black cart as garbage.
- Package broken lightbulbs safely by:
- Putting the pieces into a puncture-resistant, non-breakable container (e.g. plastic tub or pail with lid.); or
- Wrapping in two layers of paper and place in a tied bag.
- Label as "sharps" with a permanent marker and put in your black cart.
