How to dispose of vacuum cleaner bags and vacuum dirt

Use extra caution

Be careful when handling and preparing this item for disposal. Follow the instructions below for proper disposal.

Vacuum dust

Vacuum bags

  • Put into your black cart

Put bagged vacuum dirt, lint, cobwebs and vacuum bags into your black cart as garbage.

  • Dust and powders must be double bagged and tied closed for dust control before putting in your black cart as garbage.

Why can't this be composted?

Vacuum cleaner dirt is not compostable in the green cart because it can include non-compostable material that will not breakdown during the composting process and will contaminate the finished compost.
