Advisory Committee on Accessibility
Who we are and what we do
The Advisory Committee on Accessibility (ACA) advises Council and Administration on accessibility for people with disabilities. Committee members bring accessibility knowledge, experience, and perspectives to help identify barriers and improve access to City programs, services, infrastructure, communications, employment practices, and civic participation opportunities.
Our role
- Review City initiatives to identify accessibility considerations before decisions are finalized.
- Identifies emerging accessibility issues and priorities affecting Calgarians with disabilities.
- Serves as subject matter experts and provides accessibility perspectives to City Administration and Council.
- Serves as ambassadors in the community regarding a range of accessibility issues.
- Stewards the Accessibility Awards.
While the Advisory Committee on Accessibility focuses broadly on accessibility across City programs, policies, and services, the Access Design Subcommittee provides more specialized advice on accessibility in infrastructure and the built environment.
