Community Standards Fund

We work to promote communities where residents can live side by side safely and respectfully being considerate of the needs and rights of others. We value education, voluntary bylaw compliance, and community-based solutions to local issues.

Calgarians work hard to keep their city clean and safe. To encourage this, we administer the Community Standards Fund. The funding is for communities to undertake projects that assist in ongoing compliance with the Community Standards Bylaw 32M2023.

Projects can be small-scale capital projects or operational projects. The goal of the Community Standards Fund is to support a variety of community organization led projects that enhance adherence with the Community Standards Bylaw, including but not limited to graffiti prevention or removal, litter control, illegal dumping, or other initiatives that will deter Community Standards bylaw infractions in specific neighborhoods.

Funding priority will be directed to initiatives that can demonstrate both (a) a significant community-related issue that has created a need for the project, and (b) tangible impact or benefit from the project related to that same issue; which together are expected to result in increased Community Standards Bylaw compliance or awareness in the community.

The fund is not intended to support long-term projects or fund staff positions.  The qualification standards are included with the Community Standards Fund Application Package.

The application period for the 2025 Community Standards Fund will open on, Dec. 15, 2024, through Jan. 26, 2025. Applications are due by 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2025.
