Program details
The Community Standards Fund (CSF) was established in 2004 to support bylaw compliance projects undertaken by community groups to help ensure alignment with the Community Standards Bylaw 32M2023 in their neighborhoods or areas.
CSF supports a variety of small-scale capital or operational projects led by community organizations that will positively impact the community and demonstrate sustainability. Examples include but are not limited to graffiti prevention or removal, litter control, illegal dumping, and other initiatives that will minimize Community Standards bylaw infractions in specific neighborhoods or areas.
The CSF is open to any Business Improvement Area, Community Association or community-led non-profit organization which meets the fund’s eligibility criteria.

Eligible projects
Funding priority will be given to projects that respond to a significant community need and show a tangible impact. Projects should contribute to greater awareness and compliance of the Community Standards Bylaw.
The applicant organization must be a not-for-profit organization or partner with a not-for-profit organization willing to manage project funds on the applicant’s behalf.
The fund is not intended to support long-term projects or fund staff positions. The eligibility criteria are included with the Community Standards Fund Application Package.

What types of organizations are eligible?
The CSF is open to any Business Improvement Area, Community Association or community-led non-profit organizations which meets the fund’s eligibility criteria (2027 CSF Guidelines).
When are applications due?
Applications are open from Nov. 16, 2026 to Jan. 15, 2027. Applications are due by midnight on Jan. 15, 2027.
What types of projects can the Community Standards Fund be used to support?
Projects may include a variety of community-led initiatives that help prevent or address Community Standards Bylaw concerns. Examples include graffiti prevention or removal, litter control, power washing, garbage receptibles, illegal dumping prevention, and other projects that respond to specific community needs.
What do I need to include with the application?
With your application, please include a detailed budget including vendor estimates and a current certificate of insurance. Please see the 2027 CSF Guidelines document for additional information.
How will my organization receive payment?
If selected, an EFT deposit can be made or a cheque will be mailed to the address provided in the application.
What if we do not spend all the funds received?
Unused funds will need to be returned to the City of Calgary. Please email the City to discuss before the report is due.
When is the year-end report due?
Please submit your year-end report to partnerships@calgary.ca by January of the following year, detailing how your CSF grant was utilized.
