Seasonal Changes
Hello Ward 14!
The print version of my April newsletter column, which you will find in community newsletters, is a rehash of my retirement announcement from early March. I am sure you are already aware of that. There are, however, a few other items you should know about. I will note them briefly for you.
Branching Out Tree Program
To grow the tree canopy, the City of Calgary is offering Calgarians the chance to register to get a free tree for their property. Registration opens to those with a Southeast address on Monday April 14 at 10 a.m. Visit the Branching out tree program for more information.
Waste & Recycling Updates
Here are a few important notes from the City’s Waste & Recycling Department.
- Free Compost Giveaway - April 14 to May 31
- Get more information and book an appointment at calgary.ca/compost.
- Free Yard Waste Drop Off at Eco-Centres – April 11 to June 1
- Visit calgary.ca/yardwaste for details.
- Weekly Green Cart Collection begins – April 22
- Find your schedule and sign up for reminders at calgary.ca/cartschedule.
Changes to Bin Collection Schedule on April 22
Along with the seasonal change to weekly green bin pickup, there may be changes to the collection schedule for all your bins on April 22. The City changes these schedules from time-to-time to maintain efficient and effective service as Calgary continues to grow. Calgarians are now able to confirm their updated schedules using calgary.ca/cartschedule or the My Garbage Day App.
Street Sweeping Begins Monday
The City’s street sweeping program is set to begin Monday. Residential street sweeping runs Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and you should expect to see signs go up indicating the sweeping date in your area. You can go to calgary.ca/sweep to look up your sweep schedule and sign up for e-mail and text notification reminders too.
