Experience policing firsthand at the 2026 Student Police Academy!

For more than 25 years, the Student Police Academy has been a cornerstone of the Calgary Police Service’s School Resource Program. In partnership with Heritage Park and the Calgary Police Youth Foundation, this immersive, hands-on experience gives Grade 12 students a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of a Calgary police officer for a day.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, selected students from Calgary and surrounding areas will suit up in a police uniform, complete with a duty belt, handcuffs, and mock tools. Each student will be paired with an officer coach who will mentor them throughout the day.

Participants will engage in more than 20 realistic policing scenarios, including:

  • Responding to noisy party complaints
  • Conducting wellness checks
  • Investigating drug-related calls
  • Executing mock warrants
  • Performing high-risk vehicle stops

Beyond the scenarios, students will also explore:

  • Surveillance techniques
  • Crime scene analysis
  • Traffic collision reconstruction
  • Police fitness and tactical skills

Breakfast and lunch are provided, and the entire day takes place in the historic and interactive setting of Heritage Park.
