Total Compensation Review Project
The City of Calgary regularly reviews elements of its total compensation, including pay and benefits to ensure it can attract and retain talent to meet the needs of Calgarians. In 2020, a larger review was conducted to understand the market positioning for key elements of The City’s total compensation package. As part of this process, an independent consultant was hired to gather data on all employee groups.
Calgarians are encouraged to read the full report that was presented to Council in January 2021 which shows how The City of Calgary compares with similar-sized private and public organizations in the areas of pay, benefits, pensions, and compensation elements. You can also view a one-paged sheet, which summarizes the main findings in the report, and outlines actions now being taken to adjust and improve our total compensation system.
