2025 #YYCNeighbourDay Microgrant Highlights
To celebrate Neighbour Day, the Hillhurst Sunnyside community came together to organize a neighbourhood parade. The event brought out hundreds of residents and reflected a shared pride in their community, as well as appreciation for the flood protection measures put in place since 2013. It also highlighted the value of staying patient through the short-term disruptions that come with important stormwater mitigation work.
For the second year in a row, SafeLink Alberta organized a community cleanup and BBQ event in the community of Sunalta for Neighbour Day. Over 105 joined in the activities, promoting collaboration, community connection, cleanliness and shared responsibility.
Millican Ogden’s Neighbour Day birdhouse painting event brought neighbours together for easy, creative fun. Residents of all ages spent time painting side by side, chatting and getting to know one another. Neighbours left with colourful birdhouses and a stronger sense of connection to their community.
