Coffee Filter Butterfly
Supplies
- Paint
- Coffee Filter
- Spray Bottle
- Clothespin
- Pipe Cleaners
- Googly Eyes (or use Marker)
- Glue (hot glue gun would work best)
- Magnet (optional)
Directions
Step one
Cover the table (this gets messy!).
Step two
Put out a small amount of different colours of paint and give each child a large coffee filter.
Step three
Explain to the child that they only need a little amount of paint and let them paint their entire coffee filter lots of different colours.
Step four
Lightly spritz each filter with water (using a spray bottle). You may need to use a hair dryer to dry all the filters.
Step five
In the meantime, have the kids decorate a clothespin (they can colour it, glue on 2 googly eyes, and add pipe cleaner antennas).
Step six
When the coffee filter is dry, squeeze it together in the middle to make wings and hot glue it in the middle of the clothespin so that it can still hold something below the wings.
Step seven
Hot glue a magnet onto the back of the clothespin so it can become a note holder on the fridge.
