Project overview
As Calgary grows, Belmont and nearby communities need more indoor recreation and library space close to home. This new community hub will create a year-round place where people can learn, stay active and connect with others.
The fieldhouse will be ~118,000 square
feet and will include:
- a multi-sport artificial turf field
- field viewing areas
- an administration office
- dressing rooms
- gender neutral washrooms
The library will be ~10,000 square feet and will include:
- public meeting rooms
- open seating areas
- a children’s library
- outdoor learning space
- collections shelving
- staff workspaces
The City of Calgary will operate the fieldhouse and the Calgary Public Library will operate the library.
The fieldhouse and library are the first part of the Belmont Civic Site. A future multi-amenity recreation facility may be added, if funding becomes available.

Lane restrictions on 210 Ave. S.W. beginning late August 2026
Starting the week of August 24, crews will start improvements along 210 Ave. S.W. This work will take last about one month, depending on weather conditions.
What to expect
One lane will stay open in each direction during construction. Crews will complete work in phases and shift traffic as needed to work safely and keep vehicles moving. Signs will guide drivers through the area.
The project will create a new access road between 210 Ave. S.W. and the future Belmont Fieldhouse and Library parking lot. We will:
- Build a new eastbound left-turn lane on 210 Ave. S.W.
- Add a westbound deceleration lane
- Upgrade sidewalks
- Build an access road to the site
- Complete groundwork for future traffic signals, which we plan to install next year
These improvements will make it safer and easier for people to walk, cycle and drive to the future Belmont Fieldhouse and Library. The upgrades will also prepare the intersection for future traffic signals and support the growing community.

Budget and funding
The estimated cost for the fieldhouse and library is $71.8 million.
Funding for the fieldhouse was provided as part of the Council-approved Revised Capital Investment Strategy (C2021-0911)
Funding for the library was provided through the Calgary Public Library Investment Program.
