A place where people of all ages can gather and enjoy Northeast Athletic Complex

The Northeast Athletic Complex, located in the community of Saddle Ridge, will serve as a sports-centric community hub, fostering social connections and healthy, active living. It will also address increasing demands for recreational amenities in northeast Calgary.

Project update: April 2026

In the summer of 2025, the project team hired GEC Architecture to complete the design for the Northeast Athletic Complex. The design process is now well underway, and the development permit has been submitted.

With the new investment allocated by Council on Dec. 3, 2025 as part of the 2026 Budget, we are working to finalize the project schedule. At this time, we are full speed ahead on completing the design for the entire facility, and we will soon begin the process of selecting a contractor to complete the build. We will keep Calgarians updated when a construction timeline for the full facility becomes available.

Project overview

The Northeast Athletic Complex will be one of Calgary’s largest athletic parks to address the increasing demand for recreational amenities in the northeast, an area that is experiencing large population growth. This investment aligns with Council’s commitment to build strong communities, making it easier for Calgarians to live, play and connect.
