Project overview
We're building a new athletic complex so more people can play sports, stay active and connect with their community year-round. The complex includes outdoor sports fields, amenities and a future indoor fieldhouse – two projects that will open at different times:
- Rocky Ridge Athletic Park: The park will include two outdoor, multi-use artificial turf sports fields and supporting amenities like washrooms, parking and lighting.
- Rocky Ridge Fieldhouse: An indoor recreation facility with a FIFA-standard field and amenities that support sports and community activities.
Together, these facilities will support recreation, training and competition throughout the year.

Latest update
We have received funding to complete the Rocky Ridge Fieldhouse design and have started the process to hire a design team. Design work will continue through 2028.
Construction crews are also completing the Rocky Ridge Athletic Park, including sports fields, pathways, landscaping and amenities.

Timelines may change due to funding, weather, site conditions, supply chain issues or other unforeseen factors.

Budget and funding
The Rocky Ridge Athletic Park budget is $26 million.
It is partially funded by the Revised Capital Investment Strategy.
The Rocky Ridge Fieldhouse is one of the Wave 1 GamePLAN priorities, to improve access to recreation opportunities for Calgary's growing communities. The fieldhouse is expected to cost of $75 million. To date, we’ve received $7.5 million to complete the design. Council will consider funding for the fieldhouse construction through future budget discussions, including the 2027-2030 budget cycle.
