Country Hills Blvd. N.E. widening project
Project overview
We are widening around 800 metres of Country Hills Blvd. N.E. to improve travel, support safety and prepare this corridor for future growth. This work will help reduce delays, improve road safety and strengthen an important route in northeast Calgary.
This project includes:
- Widening about 800 metres of road between Barlow Trail and 36 St. N.E.
- Pre-installing of a section of water feeder main
- Moving overhead power and communications lines underground
- Building new sidewalks and pathways
- Adding storm drains and utility lines
- Installing streetlighting and upgrading intersections with traffic signals
- Landscaping and site restoration
- Restoring pavement from 36 street to Metis Tr. N.E.

Latest updates
Crews have started building the new road and related improvements. This means the project has moved from early utility and site preparation into visible roadway construction.
As of December 2025, we:
- Removed old overhead power and communications lines and poles.
- Built underground ducts and installed new power and communications lines.
- Built a paved, lighted temporary detour road.
- Installed new deep utilities.
- Installed a new water feeder main for a future connection.
