Special event road closures
Special events such as parades and marathon runs require traffic control of the roads they need closed for their events.
Affected roads and road closures during events
Calgary Marathon: May 24 & 25
Starting in 2025, the Calgary Marathon is moving to a two-day event.
Please note: There will be a large police presence along the entire route to keep the participants safe and direct traffic. See event details and interactive route map for more information about road closures during the Marathon weekend.
On Saturday, May 24, the following road closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. - 12 p.m. As the race progresses, roads that are no longer in use will be opened.
- 5A Street S.E. will be closed between 12 Avenue S.E. and 14 Avenue S.E.
- Olympic Way S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and the entrance to Stampede Park
- 12 Avenue S.E. will be closed between Olympic Way S.E. and Macdonald Avenue S.E.
- Macdonald Avenue S.E. will be closed between 12 Avenue S.E. and Bellevue Avenue S.E.
- 9 Avenue S.E. will be closed between 3 Street S.E. and 12 Street S.E.
- 12 Street E will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and Centre Avenue N.E.
- St Georges Drive N.E. will be closed between 12 Street N.E. and the entrance to TELUS Spark (this closure will be removed in time for the scheduled opening of both the Wilder Institute Calgary Zoo and TELUS Spark)
- Centre Avenue N.E. will be closed between 12 Street N.E. and 6 Street N.E.
- 6 Street N.E. will closed between Centre Avenue N.E and Meredith Road N.E.
- Meredith Road N.E. will be closed between 6 Street N.E. and 4 Street N.E.
- 4 Street N.E. will be reduced to one lane on east side between 1 Avenue N.E. and Memorial Drive N.E.
- Memorial Drive will be closed between the ramp to the 4 Avenue Flyover and 10 Street N.W.
- Riverfront Avenue will be closed from 1 Street S.W. to 6 Street S.E.
- Confluence Way SE will be closed from Riverfront Avenue S.E. to 6 Avenue S.E.
- 6 Street S.E. will be closed from 6 Avenue S.E. to 9 Avenue S.E.
Parking bans will begin at 3 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
- Ramsay (All of Macdonald Ave, clear before 5:30 a.m. and until 2 p.m.)
- There is no parking in the parking lot north of Enmax Park on Agriculture Trail S.E. just south of MacDonald Avenue S.E. - clear before 5:30 a.m. and until 2 p.m.
- 11 Avenue between 4 Street S.E. and 14 Street S.W., North and south curb lane - clear for 6:45 a.m.
- Confluence Way, and 6 Avenue to 9 Avenue S.E. along 6 Street S.E. - clear for 7 a.m.
- Inglewood 9 Avenue S.E. between 6 Street and 12 Street S.E. to Inglewood Bridge.
- Riverfront Drive from 1 Street S.W. to Confluence Way S.E. on both sides - clear for 7 a.m.
- 12 Avenue S.E. between Olympic Way and Macdonald Ave - clear for 7 a.m.
- 12 Street S.E. north of St George's Drive to Centre Avenue N.E – clear for 7 a.m
- Centre Avenue N.E. (between 12 Street N.E. & 6 Street N.E. both sides) - clear for 7 a.m
On Sunday, May 25, in addition to all closures listed above, the following road closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. - 3 p.m. As the race progresses, roads that are no longer in use will be opened.
- Memorial Drive N.W. will be closed between 10 Street N.W. and Kensington Road N.W.
- 11 Avenue will be reduced to two westbound lanes from Olympic Way S.E. to 14 Street S.W.
- 14 Street W will be reduced to one lane northbound from 11 Avenue S.W. to Kensington Road N.W.
- Parkdale Boulevard N.W., 3 Avenue N.W., and Bowness Road N.W. will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Kensington Road N.W. and 42 Street N.W.
- Bowness Road N.W. will be closed between Shaganappi Trail N.W. and 43 Street N.W.
- 19 Avenue N.W. will be closed between 42 Street N.W. and 52 Street N.W.
- Bowness Road N.W. will have reduced lanes and flagpeople directing traffic between Bow Crescent N.W. and 67 Street N.W.
- Watch for runners on the roadway on 69 Street N.W. north of Bowness Road N.W.
Parking bans will begin at 3 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.

- Kensington Road between 14 Street and 10a Street, south side of the road, and MEMORIAL to both sides of 10a - clear for 7:45 a.m.
- 10a to 14 Street N.W. - clear for 7:45 a.m. (excluding cul-de-sac)
- 19 Avenue between 42 Street N.W. & 51 Street N.W. - clear for 8 a.m.
- 17 Avenue between 50 Street N.W. & 52 Street N.W. - clear for 8:05 a.m.
- Bowness Road west curb lane between 61 Street N.W. & 67 Street N.W. - clear for 8:15 a.m.
- 69 Street N.W. - both sides clear for 8:20 a.m.

Inglewood Night Market: June 13, July 11, August 8, September 5 & 12
From Noon to Midnight the following road closures will be in place for the Inglewood Night Markets on Friday, June 13, July 11, August 8, September 5 and September 12
- 10 Street S.E. will be closed from 10 Avenue S.E. to 11 Avenue S.E.
- 11 Street S.E. will be closed from 10 Avenue S.E. to 11 Avenue S.E.
- 10 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 10 Street S.E. to 11 Street S.E.
- 11 Avenue S.E. will be closed from 11 Street S.E. to 12 Street S.E.
