Bridlewood Affordable Housing Development
About the project
This development consists of:
- 10 buildings
- 14 four-bedroom units
- 48 two-bedroom units
- 14 of the units are barrier free
- Community resource building, with a kitchen and washroom
- open park space for residents and the community
This development is made possible thanks to our partners at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Government of Alberta, Graham Construction, Integral Group and MTa Architecture. It was funded in part by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre’s Alberta Municipal Solar Program.
Energy performance
Green building techniques and materials were used to maximize energy efficiency and limit environmental impact. An electrical solar panel system installed. This will help reduce the energy costs for the residents of the units.
This decision also supports The City’s Climate Resilience Strategy, Sustainable Building Policy and to help prepare Calgary Housing for more stringent energy codes.
Community engagement
We worked with the community of Bridlewood to ensure the building was well designed and integrated into the community.
- September 2018: initial open house engagement event
- November 2018: second open house to present in
- February 2019: showcase of final designs
