How to recycle drink containers
Examples of drink containers
- Beverage cartons (screw top lids and open flap styles)
- Plastic beverage jugs
- Plastic pop bottles and water bottles
- Pop cans and beer cans
- Juice pouches
- Wine bottles and other glass beverage bottles
- Tetra-pak beverage containers like juice boxes
- Coffee cream containers
- Other ready-to-serve drink containers with a bottle deposit
How to dispose
There are two ways to dispose of drink containers.
Return for a refund

Take to a special drop-off location
Take containers to a bottle depot location to get a refund on any applicable deposit paid at the time of purchase.
Note: Beverage lids and caps can stay on containers if taken directly back to the bottle depot for recycling.
Recycle at home

Put into your blue cart or take to a community recycling depot
Put empty and clean drink containers:
- Into your blue cart for recycling
- Take to a community recycling depot
Note: Beverage lids and caps need to be removed if recycling at home.
