How to recycle glass food jars and bottles

Put into your blue cart or take to a community recycling depot
Put empty and clean glass food jars and bottles:
- Into your blue cart for recycling
- Take to a community recycling depot
Unbroken and broken glass jars can be placed loose in your blue cart. Stickers/labels are ok to leave on the glass jar.
Special instructions
- Recycle large metal lids about the size of the palm of your hand (including lids with a rubber seal) in your blue cart. Smaller lids go in the garbage.
- Put decorative mason jars (not for food) in your black cart as garbage. Paint, glue and other decorative materials cannot be recycled.
- If you live in an apartment, townhouse or other multi-family complex, glass bottles should be accepted in your building's recycling program. If they are not accepted, please contact 311 to report this issue.
