How to dispose
There are two ways to dispose of fluorescent light tubes.
Household hazardous waste drop-off location

Take to a household hazardous waste drop-off location
Safely dispose of small quantities of fluorescent light tubes for free at a household hazardous waste drop-off location (designated fire hall).
- Accepts light tubes up to 4 feet in length.
- You can bring up to 3 tubes per visit.
City Eco Centre

Take to a City Eco Centre
Safely dispose of large quantities and oversized fluorescent light tubes for free at a City Eco Centre – if you bring with other garbage, charges will apply.
- Accepts tubes that are longer than 4 feet in length.
- You can bring up to 8 tubes per visit.

For businesses
If you are a business with fluorescent light tubes to dispose of, they can only be accepted at Shepard landfill and a permit is required. See our Industrial Waste permits page for full details.
