How to dispose milk, juice, pop and other drinks
Pour juice, pop and other drinks down your sink.
Pour spoiled milk in your green cart for composting. Use newspaper, flyers and used paper towels to help soak up any excess liquid. Only put in what can be absorbed by the contents of your kitchen pail (fuller kitchen pails can absorb more liquids than emptier ones).
If you have larger amounts of spoiled milk (more than two litres), try putting small amounts in your kitchen compost every day until you have disposed of the entire amount. Only put in what can be absorbed by the contents of your kitchen pail (fuller kitchen pails can absorb more liquids than emptier ones).
Tip: Don’t flush milk down your toilet, sink or drain. Over time, the fats found in milk build up, sticking to the inner walls of sewer pipes, restricting flow, causing messy, inconvenient and expensive damage to household pipes and leading to sewer back-ups.
