Festivals and Events Subsidy Program – Operations Assistance Fund
The Festivals and Events Subsidy Program – Operations Assistance Fund (FESPOAF) provides financial assistance to support the essential operational and logistical services required to safely deliver festivals and events in Calgary.
This fund replaces the former FESP Innovation Microgrant (FESPIM) and focuses solely on operational reimbursement for external contracted services.
For 2026 events, 2026 Festivals and Events Subsidy Program (FESP) recipients can apply for reimbursement funding for eligible contracted operational services that keep events running safely, efficiently and to City service standards.
Where can funding be used?
Eligible 2026 FESP events can receive reimbursement funding for essential, contracted operational services including:
- Electrical services and power distribution: Contracted electrical work needed to power infrastructure, equipment and event activities.
- Snow and ice clearing: Snow removal and ice management required for safe event setup and delivery.
- Waste and recycling services: Essential waste and recycling services that ensure clean, accessible and environmentally responsible event sites.
How to apply
Applications are accepted and reviewed until October 31.
Apply after your event is completed and you have final invoices and receipts. If your event takes place after October 31, you may apply with quotes and available invoices.
Final reimbursement decisions are confirmed after the application deadline.
- Completed events before Oct. 31 with final invoices: Final invoices and receipts
- Completed events before Oct. 31 without final invoices: Quotes and available receipts. Payment will be process after final invoices are received.
- Events after Oct. 31: Quotes (required) and any available invoices
Use subject line: "FESPOAF - [Event name]"
Note: Please apply after your event is complete. Applications submitted early will be returned, unless your event takes place after October 31. Only applications for completed events will be processed.
Assessment criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Alignment with the purpose of the fund (operational & logistical need)
- Completeness and clarity of documentation
- Eligibility and reasonableness of requested service costs
- Accuracy and industry consistency of vendor pricing
Important notes
- Only 2026 FESP recipients are eligible to apply
- All service providers must hold valid business licenses and required permits
- Services delivered through informal arrangements or unlicensed contractors are not eligible
- City‑contracted electrical services (via Parks or other business units) are subsidized internally at 50% and do not require a FESPOAF application
