What you’ll do here

A career in public safety and enforcement can be challenging but very rewarding. These roles are important because they help keep people safe. Professionals respond to emergencies, teach safety, work with community groups, enforce city bylaws, and plan for recovery after emergencies. Careers include firefighting, law enforcement, and roles focused on community safety and crime prevention.

  • Investigate bylaw complaints and work with the community to solve problems.
  • Improve safety on Calgary’s transit system and reduce social disorder.
  • Partner with Calgary Police on projects that make communities safer.
  • Enforce safety codes, bylaws, and standards to protect people and property.
  • Design safety training programs to help people learn and stay safe.
  • Prepare Calgary for emergencies and reduce risks to the city.
  • Answer and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls.
  • Patrol on foot and by vehicle to protect City staff, visitors, and facilities.
