Council Compensation Review Committee
The Council Compensation Review Committee (CCRC) reviews the compensation package for Calgary City Council members.
Mandate
The CCRC’s job is make impartial recommendations on pay and benefits for Council members. The Committee has five public members who know about local government, human resources, pay, business, or law. The Committee works independently, and Council Members cannot join its meetings.
Timeline
Council establishes a CCRC every four years. The CCRC is formed in the last year of a Council’s term.
October 24, 2023 - The current CCRC established by Council.
December 17, 2024 - The CCRC presented its final report to Council.

Reporting
The CCRC’s report may include recommendations for:
- The base salary for Council members.
- How to adjust the salary over the next four-year Council term.
- Benefit plans and premiums, such as for health, dental and life insurance.
- Taxable benefits such as a car allowance or parking permits.
The CCRC may also make recommendations on the salaries or salary ranges for the assistants who work for Councillors.
