Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emission Savings

We looked at 70 City of Calgary LEED projects certified up to 2023 to see how much energy and money they save, and how they reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). We used energy models from when the projects got LEED certified to figure out the savings. We also considered changes in utility costs and GHG emissions over time. The City of Calgary uses reports from the Government of Canada and AESO for GHG numbers.

LEED rules and energy models can be different for each project. The predicted savings might not match what actually happens after the project is built. We didn't check these savings with detailed monitoring. Savings from things like solar panels are not included in the graphs.
