Whether you are planning for the future or have experienced a recent loss, there are many things to consider and decisions to make. We understand you may be feeling overwhelmed and can offer information about arranging for cemetery options and final memorialization.
Begin by choosing between a casket burial, green burial or cremation to help narrow your decisions and take things one step at a time.
Casket burials
We offer a variety of burial interment options. It is a final resting place, a place to visit, reflect, and to cherish memories. Burial plot options such as upright or flat marker spaces and crypts are available in Queen's Park Cemetery and the Mausoleum.
While the largest selection is within the new Prairie Sky Cemetery and Queen’s Park Cemetery, other City cemeteries do have burial lots that become available.
Green burials
Green burials are a new option available only at Prairie Sky cemetery. Green burials give the environmentally-minded the chance to ensure their final resting place reflects a lifetime of care for our natural world.
Cremation interments
For those exploring cremation, we offer a variety of options such as columbariums, cremation scattering, ossuaries or interment within a plot. Options are available at Union, St. Mary's, Queen’s Park and the new Prairie Sky cemeteries as well as within the Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
Pre-purchased plots, products or services
It’s common for people to make end-of-life arrangements prior to their passing. These arrangements could include pre-purchased plots, crypt spaces or cremation urns.
Advantages of pre-planning
- Pre-planning is an act of love because it means your friends and family will not need to make last-minute decisions at an already stressful and emotional time.
- It also relieves your friends and family of the financial burden of paying for your final arrangements.
- Your family will know exactly what to do, ensuring that the funeral services are provided according to your wishes, preferences and beliefs.
- Like most other products, cemetery plots, niches and crypts increase in price over time, so pre-purchasing can help you save money in the future.
- If you change your mind after pre-purchasing, and decide to rest in a different cemetery or go through a different funeral process, you can always sell your plot, niche or crypt.

If you are the executor or person in line of authority for your loved one, you may have received a package with details of any pre-purchased products. Be sure to read this information package before your appointment. Important details will be included, like the final disposition of burial or cremation, interment fees, and any documentation required for your appointment.
When to contact a licensed funeral home
We also work closely with licensed funeral homes. Among other things, funeral homes can help:
- hold and transport a body
- obtain a death certificate
- arrange the funeral, memorial and/or burial service
- prepare the obituary
- help notify the deceased's employer, attorney, insurance company and banks

- offer grief support or direct you to other resources
