Photo gallery

Location information​

  • Located on the third floor. 
  • Maximum capacity is 150 people.
  • Wheelchair accessible via third floor access door. (There are stairs within the gallery) 
  • Washrooms are not readily accessible. Located on the 4th floor via stairs or long elevator route.  
  • Quiet space within the Devonian Gardens.
  • Power is not available.
  • Art activations may be present based on seasonality. 

Booking information

  • You may book the space up to one year in advance.
  • A permit is required for use of the space.
  • Minimum booking of two hours.
  • Your own set up and take down of additional items must be within the booking time.
  • All items you would like to bring must be approved from Parks Venues, one month prior to the event.
  • Items not allowed: pets, lanterns, open flame, flower petals, bird seed, rice, confetti, balloons, bubbles, tents, mats, dance floors.  
  • Table and chair rentals are available through Parks Venues. 
  • Hosting an event with catering will require additional booking of the Event Room.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

General Booking Information

When can I book Devonian Gardens?

Bookings are available year-round between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

How far in advance can I book?

Bookings are accepted up to one year in advance.

You must book at least 30 days in advance.

Is there a minimum booking time? 

Yes, bookings require a minimum of 2 hours. 

Do I need a permit to use the space?

Yes, a permit is required for private use of any space.

What should I bring to my event?

Groups must have their permit with them on the day of the event.

Can I access the venue early for setup?

No early access is permitted. Set-up, take-down, and your event must occur within your booked time. 

Booking Payment Terms

Event Room & VIP Birthday Party Packages

  • Payment is due within 14 days of booking confirmation.
  • If the event is less than 14 days away, payment is due immediately.
  • Cancellations:
    • More than 14 days’ notice: Refund minus $50 cancellation fee. 
    • Less than 14 days’ notice: No refund.
  • Cancellations must be in writing to parksvenues@calgary.ca.

Garden Spaces & Wedding Packages

Payment terms will be confirmed upon booking.  

Parking information

Parks Venues is not responsible for arranging, directing or coordinating parking.  

It is advised to visit the Gardens and make the required directions for your event guests. 

Does Parks Venues arrange parking?

No, you are responsible for coordinating parking for your guests.

How do I access Devonian Gardens after hours?

Use the 24/7 elevator by Hy’s Steakhouse (3rd Street door between 7th and 8th Ave). 
If doors are locked, buzz mall security at the 7th Ave entrance and identify yourself as the event booking holder.

How do I access during mall hours?

Enter through the CORE Parkade (Indigo Lot #059, 751 3 St SW) using the elevator.

Washrooms

Are washrooms available?

Yes, both TD Core food court and Devonian Gardens washrooms are open during operational hours and your booking time. All washrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Catering Information

Can I bring in catering?

Yes, catering is permitted. You must book the event room to access the catering kitchen and must comply with all Alberta Food Regulations. 

When can catering deliveries occur?

All deliveries, setup, and pickup must occur within your booking time.

Are open flames allowed?

No, open flames are not permitted.

What amenities are in the catering kitchen?

  • Counter space
  • Sink
  • Fridge and freezer
  • 3 rolling carts

What are caterer responsibilities?

  • Follow loading dock access instructions. (provided with permit)
  • Clean up all food/waste by end of booking.
  • Bring own garbage and recycling bins.
  • Dispose of all waste properly.
  • Return amenities as found.
  • Prepare food off-site. (no reheating or dishwasher available)

What are the sustainability standards?

Use reusable, recyclable, or compostable materials and minimize single-use items.

Liquor Service & Insurance

Can I serve liquor at my event?

Yes, with pre-approval, a liquor license, and special event insurance.

When can liquor be served?

Liquor service is allowed 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

What are the insurance requirements?

  • $2 million general liability coverage.
  • The City of Calgary must be listed as additional insured.
  • Proof of liquor license and insurance must be provided at least one month before the event.

Fire & Safety

Are open flames or pyrotechnics allowed?

No, candles, smoke/dry ice machines, pyrotechnics, and confetti are not permitted.

Can I smudge during my event?

Yes, but pre-approval is required at least 4 weeks in advance.

What are capacity limits based on?

Capacities are determined by Alberta Building and Fire Codes.

Decorations, Items & Rentals

Are tables and chairs available?

Yes, tables and chairs can be rented from Parks Venues. Submit your layout plan one month in advance.

What items are not allowed?

Generators, lanterns, open flames, confetti, rice, flower arches, balloons, and bubbles are not permitted.

Can I use real flowers?

Yes, small bouquets and centerpieces may be approved upon request.

When can I deliver or pick up rentals?

All deliveries and pickups must occur within booking time. 
Storage space is not available.

Use of Space

Can I touch or remove plants?

No, picking or disturbing plants is not allowed and may result in fines.

Can I play music?

Yes, as long as the volume complies with community noise bylaws.

Who is responsible for damages?

The permit holder is responsible for any damages or excessive waste (minimum $75 fee).

Are pets or bikes allowed?

No pets, bicycles, or scooters are permitted.

Is The City responsible for lost items?

No, The City of Calgary is not responsible for loss or damage.

Photography Permits

Do I need a permit for photography?

Yes, a photo permit is required for professional photography.

What types of photo permits are available?

  • Public Photo Permit: Self-serve, no staff assistance.
  • Private Photo Permit: Includes staff and private garden area.

What are the payment terms for photo permits?

  • Payment due 14 days after booking confirmation.
  • If booked within 14 days, payment due immediately.
  • Non-refundable.
  • Public permits may be rescheduled with 14 days’ written notice; private permits cannot be rescheduled.
