What to expect during construction
We understand that construction can be disruptive. We’ll do our best to minimize its impact.
- Lane Closures: At least two lanes on Macleod Trail S.E. will stay open in each direction. Please follow signs and detours.
- Work hours: General work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Sunday. Milling and paving will take place at night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Bridge Work: Bannister Road S.E. Bridge will have long-term lane closures. At least three lanes will stay open in each direction.
- Noise and Vibrations: Nearby residents may hear or feel construction. We’ll work to reduce this when possible.
- Transit: Transit routes near Anderson Road S.E. might be affected by ramp closures. Check calgarytransit.com for updates.
About the project
What’s included in the project:
- New safety barriers along Macleod Trail S. from Shawnessy Boulevard S.W. to 99 Avenue
- Road resurfacing (mill and inlay) on Macleod Trail from Shawnessy Boulevard S.W. to Fish Creek and Shawnessy Drive
- Bannister Road Bridge rehabilitation
The City of Calgary has combined three road projects into one. This helps save money, avoid delays, and make the work safer. By hiring one contractor instead of three, we can reduce the time it takes to finish the work and avoid having too many crews in the same area at once.
The total budget for this project is $22.1 million. It is:
- Improving the condition of the road and bridge
- Making the infrastructure last longer
- Helping to prevent crashes and make the road safer for everyone
