Hot works and hot surface fire safety plans
The National Fire Code (Alberta Edition) requires that a hot works fire safety plan be prepared for all activities involving Hot Works. Fire safety plans that involve hot works must be submitted to us for review and acceptance in writing.

Types of hot works and hot surface fire safety plans
Each type of hot works fire safety plans listed below use the same hot works fire safety plan template and should be filled out according to the type of plan required. Our template is a fillable form and once completed, must be uploaded to our 311 link for review and acceptance. This template is the only plan we accept for review.

Hot works - small buildings
For use in residential single family and two-family development. One generic hot works fire safety plan is required for each single or two-family development.
One per contractor which covers the city.
Our generic hot works template is a fillable PDF form. Once you have completed it, it must be uploaded to 311 for review and acceptance.

Hot works – all job sites
For use on all small job sites under $5,000.

For use on site specific roofing applications.
One plan is required per building. Consult with us for approval.

Creating fire safety plans
To help you create your Fire Safety Plan we supply each building and business with the following information and documents. This information should be stored in a binder labeled “Fire Safety Plan”.
