How to send a compliment

Every day, City employees work across Calgary to keep our city safe, clean, and running smoothly. Your thanks helps us highlight the real impact employees have in our communities.

If a City employee helped you, showed kindness, or solved a problem, we want to hear about it. Your message helps us recognize their work and encourages a culture of service and care.

Use the 311 portal to share:

  • A compliment or thank‑you message
  • The employee’s name, if you know it
  • Where and when the interaction happened
  • What they did that stood out to you

We will pass your message to the employee and their supervisor.

Recently recognized employees / teams

Calgarians often share stories about City employees who make a positive difference.

Here are a few examples of recent compliments we have received.

I want to send a huge thank you to Team #721, specifically Steve and Mahad, who came out to turn off and on our water service so we could complete a necessary plumbing repair. Both men were super friendly, incredibly professional and extremely helpful throughout the process. They made a stressful plumbing situation much easier to handle. Excellent service from a great team!
As a senior with mobility issues, I was having a great deal of difficulty trying to remove a desk chair from my SUV. I was struggling, on the verge of falling over, and feeling ready to give up when a garbage truck driver saw me and pulled over to help. It made a big difference to my day, he was such a nice fellow and I wanted to say thanks.
I’m calling to express my appreciation for the Parks crew and the excellent service they provided. Staff met with me on-site and rather than leaving after completing the assessment, the crew stayed and addressed the tree concerns at that time. I was extremely impressed and grateful for the crew's professionalism, initiative and service, and I wanted to ensure my positive feedback was shared.
I am elderly and disabled, and today I went to the Shawnessy Fair Entry location because a typo in my income information had caused me a great deal of stress and many sleepless nights. I was so moved by the help I received that I wanted to call and personally recognize Katy, Olga, and the other female staff members who assisted me. Everyone was incredibly kind, compassionate and professional. They took the time to fix everything for me, and they even helped me out to my car. At times, I feel like I have no one in my life, and the kindness shown to me today let me know people still care.
