Festivals and Events Event funding

Festivals and events enhance our communities, the lives of our citizens and play an important role in Calgary's growth as an active, vibrant and creative city. 

We know Calgarians are always looking for ways to safely participate in arts, culture, sport, and recreation events. This page outlines the funding opportunities associated with The City available to support festivals and events that improve the wellbeing of citizens, families, and our communities.

Arts and Culture Microgrant

Funding up to $30,000 is available for new arts and culture projects, programming, temporary installations, place keeping, workshops and events that enhance cultural learning and arts appreciation.

Organizations that receive a Festivals and Events Subsidy are not eligible to receive an Arts and Culture microgrant for the same initiative.

Festivals and Events Subsidy Program

The Festivals and Events Subsidy Program is for registered not-for-profits, charitable organizations and Business Improvement Areas that support a variety of local festivals and events including street festivals, parades, community, sports and recreation events.

In 2024, a total of $3.3 million will be made available through the Festivals and Events Subsidy Program.
