Bylaws related to appliances and refrigerators
Appliance and refrigerator bylaws aim to uphold community safety and cleanliness. According to these rules:
- Refrigerators and freezers stored outside must have hinges, latches, or their doors removed.
- If the door isn't removed, the appliance must be locked or securely shut to prevent children and animals from getting trapped.
- Appliances stored outside should be kept out of public sight.
More information can be found in the Yard and Perimeter Maintenance Brochure.
Fines for violations of these regulations range between $200 and $300.
The City of Calgary Community Standard Bylaw section 11(2) outlines the safe and suitable storage of appliances in and around your property.
This is an overview of the bylaw, but please refer to the original bylaw for more detailed information. Original copies of the bylaw are available at the City Clerk's office.
