The opportunity to purchase City-owned land at below market value for the purpose of developing and operating non-market housing will be offered through two distinct application Windows.

Window 1 is now closed.

Window 2 is now open until 4 p.m. on April 21, 2026.

Non-market housing land disposition program

The City endeavors to consistently sell surplus land at below market value on an annual basis to non-profit organizations for the development and operations of non-market housing. Selling City land is an important action from Home is Here - The City of Calgary’s Housing Strategy, which aims to make non-market housing more readily available in Calgary.

Since the program began in 2019, The City has sold 17 parcels of surplus City land to non-profit housing organizations for the development of an estimated 835 new non-market homes for Calgarians in need of housing.
