144 Avenue North Bus Rapid Transit Engagement: Phase 2
As many of you know, north Calgary is growing fast—and with that growth comes the need for better, more reliable ways to get around. That’s why The City is doing some early planning for the future 144 Avenue North Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor and a new Symons Valley Transit Terminal. And your voice is a big part of it.
Right now, we’re in Phase 2 of public engagement, which runs until May 31. This is your chance to take a look at the proposed plans and help shape what this project will look like. Your feedback from last fall helped get us to this stage, and now we’re asking you to weigh in again—so we can move forward with a design that actually works for our communities.
This project will help deliver more frequent, affordable, and connected transit for people in Ward 2 and beyond. Once built, the 144 Avenue BRT will create a key east-west link across north Calgary, connecting with the Red Line, Blue Line, future Green Line, and several community bus routes. The proposed Symons Valley Terminal will also become a major hub to serve growing areas like Kincora, Evanston, Nolan Hill, Sage Hill, Glacier Ridge, and more.
As part of the study, The City is looking at the future Symons Valley Terminal—an important component of the upcoming Symons Valley Centre development, scheduled to begin construction in 2028. This terminal is expected to become a key transit hub for north Calgary, supporting the 144 Avenue BRT and several local bus routes. To make sure everything works seamlessly together, the planning for the BRT line is being carefully coordinated with the Symons Valley Centre project.
Whether you take transit every day or only once in a while, this planning work affects you. And the more feedback we hear from Ward 2 residents, the better we can push for transit that reflects what we actually need.
