The City of Calgary’s annual Spring Clean up Program is set to begin next week, with residential community sweeping starting shortly after. This program plays an important role in keeping our streets clean, safe, and functioning properly after winter.

As temperatures warm up across Calgary, residents might start to notice an increase in potholes and other roadway issues. This is a common and expected part of spring in our climate, and the City is actively working to repair damage caused by winter conditions as crews and materials become available.

Neighbour Day is returning to Calgary on Saturday, June 20, 2026, and it is a great opportunity to bring people together, meet your neighbours, and celebrate the places we call home. For the second year in a row, the City is offering the #YYCNeighbourDay microgrant, along with free permits, to help make local events easier to plan and more accessible.

Every day, emergency responders, tow truck operators, road maintenance crews, and snowplow drivers work just feet away from moving traffic. Their safety depends on drivers paying attention and following the law.

Every day in Calgary, thousands of people walk, cycle, drive, and roll through our streets, and every one of them deserves to get where they’re going safely. Yet as our city continues to see a troubling number of serious and fatal collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians, one factor shows up again and again: distraction.

This spring, the City of Calgary is once again offering complimentary compost to residents as part of its annual compost giveaway. The program is a great opportunity to improve the health of your yard or garden while supporting waste reduction through the green cart program.

The City of Calgary’s rain barrel rebate program is returning in 2026 and is delivered through Green Calgary. Eligible households can receive a $50 rebate per rain barrel, up to a maximum of three barrels per household. Applications will be accepted from April 1 to October 31, 2026, or until available funding is fully allocated.
