Protect your Property with Calgary’s Bike Index

Bicycle theft continues to be a concern in Calgary, but there are simple steps you can take to protect your bike and improve the chances of getting it back if it goes missing.

The Bike Index is a free online registration tool that helps police and the community return stolen bicycles to their rightful owners. During a recent operation, officers reminded cyclists to take advantage of this valuable resource.

Tips to prevent bicycle theft:

  • Lock your bike properly by securing the wheels and frame to a solid object.
  • Use multiple locks for added security.
  • Take removable items with you, such as bells, seats, and lights.
  • Avoid leaving your bike in an easily accessible place for long periods, especially overnight.
  • Keep garages and storage sheds locked.
  • Record important details like your bike’s make, model, serial number, and color, and take photos for reference.
  • Register with Bike Index and report your bike as lost or stolen if it goes missing.

If you find an abandoned bike, report it at ifoundabike.ca
Stay safe and keep your bike secure!

As always, my office is open if you have any questions or concerns. You can reach us at Ward2@calgary.ca. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Evanston Litter Pick-up

June 7, 10 AM

Meet at Evanston Community Park (115 Evanston Drive NW)

The ECCA is organizing a litter pick-up in Evanston. The long-term goal is to maintain a litter-free community, which will require ongoing efforts beyond a one-time clean-up event and this first event can help kick-off a broader ongoing commitment to manage litter in the community.

We are looking for volunteers to help clean up Evanston! June 2-8 is Environment Week and this presents a good opportunity to tie the clean-up to environmental stewardship.

For more information and to volunteer, please email secretary@eccacalgary.com
