Street Cleaning Schedule for Ward 2
May 8th Update:
I have heard from many residents from our Symons Valley communities who were unhappy that their street sweeping scheduled date isn't slated until June of this year. I share the same concerns and have expressed our office's disappointment with the Mobility Director's Office.
As promised, here is the update we have received:
Next year, Mobility will be reversing the order of the program so those swept last this year will be swept first next year.
Going forward, Mobility will be breaking the city into three of four sections, and juggling the order of those sections each year so that no community is always first or last, and as a result will rotate the order more equitably around all communities.
I apologize I was unable to make changes for this year, but hope this will help alleviate some of your concerns in the years to come. Please contact my office if you have any further questions or concerns at ward2@calgary.ca
2023 Street Sweeping Schedule:
It’s time for spring-cleaning!
Starting May 4th, City crews will begin sweeping the streets of Ward 2 communities. I wanted to give residents a heads-up about the City’s annual Spring Clean-up program, and provide you with more information on what you can expect in the coming weeks.
Sweeping the streets every year keeps our communities clean for motorists and pedestrians, and it helps protect Calgary’s natural environment. It’s important for residents to know what they can do to help out and keep our streets clear for the clean-up crews:
- Signs will be posted in your neighbourhood in advance of clean-up dates, so don’t forget to mark your calendars!
- Make sure to remove any vehicles and garbage bins from the street ahead of time so the street sweepers have easy access to the road. Any vehicles left on the road during the scheduled cleaning period will be subject to being ticketed or towed by the City.
- Daytime crews will sweep in communities Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking bans are in place when signs are present.
- If debris is left behind because a vehicle or cart has not been moved, residents can sweep up missed debris. We recommend using garbage bags (heavy debris needs to be double-bagged) when cleaning up gravel, dust, and rocks. Please do not leave debris loose in your black cart.
