Every summer, we hope for sunny skies and warm evenings. But in Calgary, we also know that with summer comes the risk of severe weather. Here are a few key steps and resources to make sure we’re all better prepared, and to make recovery a little easier if another storm does hit.

Canada Day in Calgary is just around the corner — and this year’s celebration is bigger and better than ever. With more than 200 festivals and events launching as part of the Downtown Summer Festival Season, there’s no better time to rediscover everything our city’s core has to offer.

Exciting progress is underway on the long-anticipated Symons Valley Centre project, which will bring much-needed amenities to Calgary’s northwest.

Fresh, local food is coming right to your neighbourhood! I’m excited to share that The City of Calgary’s Farm Stand Program is returning for another season—bringing the best of Alberta farms directly into our communities.

Seniors’ Week is almost here, and I invite everyone in Ward 2 to join me in celebrating the older adults who make our communities stronger, kinder, and more connected. From June 2 to 8, let’s come together to recognize the many ways seniors enrich our lives every single day.

Just a quick reminder for Ward 2 residents—property tax bills have been sent out this week, and the deadline to pay is coming up fast: Monday, June 30. If you haven’t already, now’s a good time to make a plan. Whether you prefer to pay in full or want a more manageable option, there are a couple of easy ways to stay on top of it and avoid any late payment penalties.

As many of you know, north Calgary is growing fast—and with that growth comes the need for better, more reliable ways to get around. That’s why The City is doing some early planning for the future 144 Avenue North Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor and a new Symons Valley Transit Terminal. And your voice is a big part of it.

We’re excited to share that the City of Calgary’s Mobility team is making significant investments in Ward 2 this year to improve how we move through our communities—whether by foot, bike, car, or mobility device.

Our communities are growing, and with that growth comes exciting improvements to roads, parks, and public spaces. To help you stay informed about what’s happening near you, I have worked with The City to launch the Capital Projects Map – an interactive tool that highlights upcoming and ongoing infrastructure projects.

Get ready for a day of outdoor fun, creativity, and exploration! The City of Calgary’s Mobile Adventure Playground program is back, and this year, we’re thrilled to host one right here in Ward 2.
