Clothing and equipment
Ropes, harnesses and belay devices are provided at no extra charge for all programs. Climbing shoes are not provided, but clean snug-fitting running shoes are adequate.
Jeans are allowed to be worn in climbing drop-in (by participants and instructors), but are NOT allowed on the gymnastics equipment.
Free belay classes
Anyone aged 13 and older can take the free belay class prior to climbing drop-in to learn and take the belay test. Participants 4 - 12 years are eligible to attend the belay class if an adult (18+) accompanies and belays them. 13 years and up can climb without parental supervision as long as they have passed the belay test.
Completion of Belay Introduction Lesson is mandatory prior to practicing your climbing skills on our wall. Belay Introduction Lesson is taught during the first 45 minutes of the drop-in program. Participants must be on time.
Coaching tips are available at no charge during climbing drop-in.
Cost
Leisure centre admission applies; parent/preschooler rate applies for children 6 years and under.
Waivers required
Waivers for each participant must be filled out by a parent/guardian (or participant if 18 years or older) at Southland Leisure Centre to gain entry and participation into climbing drop-in.
Book a drop-in appointment
Drop-in requires booking an appointment in order to confirm your spot. Reservations can be made up to 7 days in advance, starting at 5:30 AM daily.
Only the account owner can book appointments on behalf of other members of the group. Please ensure the correct member is selected from the participant menu.
