Commercial river water pick up
To support construction businesses during the current water restrictions, The City of Calgary is providing non-potable river water for use by construction and landscaping contractors. Businesses can bring their water trucks for filling at two locations free of charge.
Access is open to contractors who are working on projects which require dust control, compacting of dirt or gravel surfaces and establishing new city landscaping.
Water from these locations is non-potable, not safe for drinking, and only to be used for construction and landscaping activities.

To qualify for water distribution, projects must be related to a City of Calgary Capital Project or new development (residential/commercial/industrial) under an approved permit or agreement with The City and Hydrant Connection Unit Agreements.
When picking up water, please provide:
- Company name
- License plate of the vehicle and the trailer if applicable
- Intended use of the water

If users have a truck-mounted Meter Assembly (MA) box from The City of Calgary they will have to disconnect the device before getting non-potable water to avoid being charged. The MA will need to be re-inspected by The City before resuming regular use.
