Water main break - service interruptions

Edworthy Park closures and impacts

Starting Thursday night, the north parking lot of Edworthy Park near Bowness Road, will be closed to allow for work in the area. The parking lot will remain closed until further notice. Also, some sections of the Bow River Pathway near Edworthy Park will be closed, including sections near Angel’s Café and near the north parking lot.

Work in the area will also have some impact on river users. Large volumes of dechlorinated water will be released into the Bow River near Edworthy Park. This is expected to take one to four days to complete. The river will remain safe for floating and boating, but due to the increased flow we are asking that people stay off the north shoreline by Edworthy Park this long-weekend.

The south parking lot will remain open. That lot is accessible from Bow Trail and Edworthy Street S.W.  We anticipate a high volume of traffic at the south parking lot during the Canada Day long-weekend.

Edworthy Park and Angels Café are open, however we are asking visitors to the area to use caution. Follow signage throughout the area.

Aquatic centres

While aquatic & fitness facilities and leisure centres are open, pools, water parks and showers at all locations are closed. Non-water-based registered and drop-in programs are still running. Participants of cancelled aquatic and ice-based programs, bookings, classes and lessons will be notified and automatically refunded. 

Shouldice, Foothills and Inglewood Aquatic Centres are closed.
Shouldice Park

Shouldice Park, including playing fields, pathways and roadways are closed until further notice to allow for inspections of the current conditions.
Edworthy Park

Disrupted

Sections of the north side of Edworthy park, including pathways and the north parking lot are closed to access until further notice.

Wading pools and spray parks

Closed

Wading pools and spray parks will remain closed until the restrictions are lifted so that final preparations that involve water use can be completed.
Arenas

Closed

All arenas are closed, with the exception of those with dry pads (non-ice). Some ice bookings will be impacted. Groups will be notified. 
North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres

Disrupted

North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres are open. Programming will be adjusted to use as little water as possible.
Fire Hall Bulk Water Stations

Disrupted

Fire Halls Bulk Water Stations at Fire Station # 20, #21, and #26 are temporarily closed due to the ongoing water restrictions.

Athletic parks

Disrupted

Athletic Parks, except some fields at Shouldice Athletic Park are open, but no showers are available at City athletic parks.
Calgary Soccer Centre

Disrupted

The Soccer Centre is open, but showers are closed. 
Street sweeping

Disrupted

Sweeping in communities of Willow Park, Sandstone Valley, Taradale, Saddleridge, Royal Oak, Highland Park, Greenview, Cranston, Penbrooke Meadows, Southwood, Aspen Woods, and Springbank Hill will not be completed today. Streets that were not completed will have their sweeping dates rescheduled to a later date.
