Haskayne Legacy Park Solar Project

Solar project Haskayne Legacy Park

Renewable energy powering one of The City’s greenest buildings

In December 2020, a 33.6 kW ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system was completed at Haskayne Legacy Park. The project is designed to generate more than 43,000 kWh of renewable energy annually. It uses 84 bi-facial solar panels rated at 400 W each.

The solar project offsets nearly all the electricity consumption of the Haskayne Legacy Park Pavilion building, which has a geo-exchange heat pump system for heating and cooling. It is one of the lowest-emission buildings in The City’s portfolio.

The solar project cost about $112,300. The City received $25,200 in funding from the Alberta Municipal Solar Program, run by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre. The Centre is a partnership between the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association and the Rural Municipalities of Alberta.
