Ogden Road Realignment

To make room for the Green Line, Ogden Road S.E. will be realigned between the Canadian National Railway (CN) bridge and 69 Avenue S.E. The Green Line will run between the realigned road and the Canadian Pacific Kansas City railway line.

Throughout construction, access to Pop Davies Athletic Park will be maintained, including vehicle, pedestrian, and cyclist access along Ogden Road S.E. and Millican Road S.E.

The informal gravel parking area on the west side of the existing Ogden Road will be permanently removed to make way for the new roadway.

Scope of work

Work includes:

  • Installation of a water main and storm trunk line
  • Construction of a multi-use pathway along the west side of Ogden Road
  • Construction of a new asphalt parking lot with approximately 100 stalls at the south end of Pop Davies Athletic Park
  • Landscaping and related site improvements

The North Star contract includes construction of the new section of Ogden Road between the CN rail bridge and Millican Road. The section between Millican Road and 69 Avenue S.E. will be constructed under a separate contract as part of future work.

July 2026 Update

Work continues on the Ogden Road realignment project, with major activities underway across the site, including installation of the new water main and storm trunk lines and construction of the new parking lot at the south end of Pop Davies Athletic Park.

Excavation and site preparation for the underground stormwater storage system are progressing within the future parking lot. Located beneath the surface, the storage tank captures and stores rainwater, helping reduce flood risk by allowing water to gradually soak into the ground.

With the north tie-in to the existing water system completed earlier in July, water main installation is now complete. Final inspections and backfilling are underway.

Installation of the storm trunk line is approximately 65% complete. Once complete, it will collect runoff from catch basins and manholes along Ogden Road and direct it to the stormwater storage tank beneath the new parking lot. 

To support the recreation season, the contractor has adjusted the construction site layout at Pop Davies Athletic Park, including updated parking arrangements that help maintain access for park users while construction continues nearby.
