About
Rendering of a ground-level Green Line station.
Overview
Green Line LRT is a city shaping transit service that improves mobility choices for Calgarians, connecting people and places and enhancing the quality of life in Calgary. A fleet of new modern low floor train cars will improve accessibility and allow stations to integrate easily into communities.
The first phase of the reimagined Green Line LRT stretches from downtown to Shepard with two segments: Downtown and Southeast. On January 28, 2025, City Council voted to start construction on the Southeast Segment this year, while simultaneously working on the Functional Plan for the Downtown Segment to advance design, validate cost estimates, understand potential impacts to existing infrastructure and ensure the project is broadly supported by Calgarians prior to starting construction.
