Green Line Board Update
Following City Council's decision to begin winding down Phase 1 of the Green Line LRT, from Lynnwood/Millican to Eau Claire, and their revision to the Green Line Board Bylaw to include oversight of these wind down efforts, the Board has approved changes to its structure and membership.
As indicated to Council on September 17, 2024, the Board committed to focusing on nimble and timely decision-making to support the execution of the wind down plan.
In follow up to this, as a collective decision, the Board will dismantle their committee structure and function as a committee of the whole, with five Board members: Don Fairbairn, Marcia Nelson, Ian Bourne, Patricia McLeod and David Duckworth.
The Board thanks departing Board members Janet Annesley, Larry Beasley, Bharat Mahajan and Fred Cummings for their dedication and contributions to the project. In the same way that the Board has made decisions since 2021, the departing Board members put the needs of the project first. Their diverse expertise is best aligned with a forward-looking project, which is no longer the mandate of the Green Line Board. Their significant impact made the project better and they remain strong champions of the vision of the Green Line LRT Project and city-building transit infrastructure.
The Green Line Board will continue to work collaboratively with the City to ensure the orderly wind down of the Phase 1 Project by December 31, 2024, and will provide updates as the work evolves.
