Local business feature - Youth Singers of Calgary

Located near the future Highfield station, Youth Singers of Calgary is a focused organization with a history of positively impacting the lives of singers and their families.

Established in 1985, it has grown into a thriving community of over 500 singers, spanning from three-year-olds to adults, committed to providing musical and performance education to all while instilling confidence and shaping leaders, teachers, and global citizens. Youth Singers' diverse repertoire spans all centuries and styles of music, allowing singers to explore and express themselves in a variety of ways. Additionally, Youth Singers offers a touring program, enabling young people to showcase their talents across Canada and in over 20 countries on five continents.

In addition to the core instructional and performing divisions, Youth Singers has expanded to include several other programs, including STAR (Special Talents in Arts and Recreation) and the HUB. STAR is a unique program that explores the joy of music with youth and young adults with cognitive delays, while the HUB is an intergenerational informal choir that gives alumni and friends a chance to sing side by side.

One of the most impressive aspects of Youth Singers is its commitment to inclusivity and equity. The organization has formed a Board subcommittee of singers to ensure that the future of its programs is more equitable and inclusive. This commitment is reflected in the organization's community of families and volunteers, who supply more than 35,000 hours of volunteer commitment annually.

Through their passion for their art, Youth Singers are wonderful ambassadors for the city, province, and country, and never fail to bring a smile to the faces of their audiences.

Located in the industrial area of Highfield with limited transit access, Megan Emmett shares her excitement for the Green Line LRT, saying, 'It will be like the whole city of Calgary has access to our beautiful space. It will be so convenient and easy for our clients to get here and make a world of difference. We are so excited for the Highfield Green Line station.'

If you or a loved one is interested in getting involved as a future performer, volunteer, or would like to see an upcoming show, visit Youth Singers of Calgary.
