Downtown Segment
Green Line LRT Downtown Segment Update
Phase 1 of engagement for the Downtown Functional Plan is complete. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us!
We’re currently reviewing the feedback we received and creating a What We Heard Report. Your feedback will be used to:
- Identify community priorities
- Shape planning and design
- Inform future decisions
When the What We Heard Report is complete we’ll share it on the engagement page for the project.
Background Information
With construction underway on the SE Segment, from Shepard to the Event Centre/Grand Central Station, work is concurrently moving forward on the Functional Plan for the Downtown Segment.
The Functional Plan will examine an elevated alignment between the Event Centre/Grand Central Station, along 10 Avenue S. in the Beltline and 2 Street S.W. downtown. This work will build on the concept developed by the Province of Alberta and includes validating the design and costs for an elevated route.
The topics being studied include:
- station concepts and locations,
- how people will get on and off the trains at stations,
- if and how adjacent buildings and amenities may connect,
- designs for the guideway that the trains will travel along, and,
- options for how public spaces under the guideway might be used.
Where possible, feedback received during engagement will be used to advance the design and recommendations for the Downtown Segment.
