Green Line LRT Downtown Segment Update
With construction underway on the Green Line’s Southeast Segment, work is ongoing for the Functional Plan of the Downtown Segment. Phase 1 of Green Line, made up of both segments, will connect riders between southeast Calgary and the downtown core. This city-building project depends on strong partnership at all orders of government.
The Functional Plan will be examining an elevated alignment between Grand Central/Event Centre Station, along 10 Avenue in the Beltline and 2 Street S.W. downtown. This work includes validating the design and costs for the elevated alignment. Among the items being studied are property impacts, access, noise and vibration, flooding and stormwater impacts, mobility considerations, and safety.
Public engagement will begin in Q1 2026 and will inform our recommendations for the Downtown Segment. It will include a range of in-person and online opportunities for people to participate to share their interests and priorities to inform how the Functional Plan advances. We will share what we hear, how it is being applied, and how it influences the technical planning. Stay tuned for more information.
