Bearspaw South Feeder Main Parkdale Boulevard Repairs

Supporting Calgary’s drinking water system Bearspaw South Feeder Main Parkdale Boulevard Repairs

While the feeder main is shut down for connection work this fall, The City will take the opportunity to complete six additional repairs on the feeder main between the Shaganappi Pump Station and the Memorial Pump Station along Parkdale Boulevard and Memorial Drive N.W.

Work begins October 29, 2026 and continues through the first week of December. The repairs will involve excavating six locations, removing sections of pipe, up to 4.3-metres long, and replacing them with new steel segments.

Repairs will be completed during the Bearspaw South Feeder Main (BSFM) shutdown (starting November 4) to tie the new BSFM pipe into Calgary's water system.

Stage 4 Water Restrictions

Starting November 4, city-wide Stage 4 water restrictions will be in effect. No outdoor water use will be permitted during this time.

We're also urging Calgarians to reduce their indoor water use.

Project background

Recent condition assessments identified six locations on the 1500 mm section of the Bearspaw South Feeder main that require proactive repairs. Assessments of the 1500 mm section show it remains in good overall condition and does not require replacement. Instead, targeted repairs at specific locations will help maintain the pipe's long-term reliability.

Completing this work while the feeder main is already out of service for planned connection work is the most efficient approach and helps reduce future risk and disruption.
