The City of Calgary Youth Employment Centre (YEC) is pleased to be offering a Youth Scholarships this year. The YEC is giving out four $1000 dollar scholarships to eligible youth. Youth who have registered for services with the YEC in 2024 and who are enrolled in an accredited program for a minimum of one semester starting or continuing in January 2025 are encouraged to apply.

This scholarship is for youth who have actively participated in career development activities at the YEC in 2024. Career development activities include resume writing, targeted job search, attending a YEC hiring event, job interview practice and career planning.

The YEC Scholarship is not limited to youth who are attending post-secondary programs. We encourage youth attending any accredited training, upgrading, apprenticeship or post-secondary program to apply. Current high school students continuing with their high school studies in 2025 are not eligible for this scholarship.

  • Step 1 - Register for services at the YEC and meet with an employment counsellor. An employment counsellor can help you with a targeted job search, connect you with job opportunities, practice job interview skills and assist you with career planning.
  • Step 2 - Ensure you are enrolled in an accredited training, upgrading, apprenticeship or post-secondary program.
  • Step 3 - Apply for the scholarship here. Make sure you complete the full questionnaire and upload a targeted resume.

The application deadline is September 30, 2024.
