Nestled in the heart of one of Calgary’s most up-and-coming neighbourhoods, mud URBAN POTTERS is a dynamic hub where artistic mastery flourishes. The ceramic studio opened its doors in the summer of 2020 when many Calgarians needed a creative outlet the most. As a sanctuary for people, mud URBAN POTTERS has become a favourite in Calgary’s artistry scene.

The pottery workshop is near Green Line’s future Highfield Station, 4111 13a Street S.E., right off Ogden Road S.E.

“The new Green Line will be great to highlight this area. We are tucked away here, which is why I like this area, but it will be good to help show off this cool, artsy part of town for people,” shared Jenna Thompson, mud URBAN POTTERS’ owner. “It will be nice for our students and members who want to take transit because it’s not really an option right now. I think the Green Line will be a big help."

Jenna found the craft three years ago, and now she finds pottery addicting and liberating. One of her favourite things about creating pottery is the tangible aspect, especially how messy you can get with creating the pieces.

The studio offers many opportunities for people to hone their ceramic skills, including six-week classes, workshops, and weekly Friday Night Throw Downs.

mud URBAN POTTERS has eight instructors who teach the classes and a membership option for students to transition once they’re confident enough.

“If people are looking for a fun new hobby and want to be pushed to learn something challenging, you can really go a long way with it if you fall in love with it too.”
